About Frances~

History: Born an identical twin in San Francisco, California. Frances is a Cum Laude honors graduate with a B.A. in Dance/ Physical education from San Francisco State University. While training with the Oakland Ballet Academy and Modern dance teachers, she performed and choreographed in two Bay Area dance companies. She began studying acting in S.F. where she got her start in commercials and modeling with her twin sister Mae Welter. Arriving in Los Angeles in 1980, she continued to dance in films/TV such as Pennies from Heaven, Can’t Stop the Music, Fantasy Island and Love boat. She has appeared on Stage, in T.V., Film, Commercials and Print. Her National credits include Television Commercials for Coca-Cola, Grape Nuts Cereal, J.C. Penney, Marshalls Department Stores, Payless Shoes, Pizza Hut and modeling for Sprint, IBM, Sony, Boston Market, Uniworld River Cruises, Medicare, Geico and Nutri Bullet Broadcast and Print and more.

TV and Film: Her television credits include roles on TV series such as, Retired after 35, TV Land, Rizzoli and Isles, TNT, My Haunted House, Lifetime Movie Channel and Unusual Suspects on the Investigation Discovery Channel. In addition she has graced the silver screen in the films, Pennies from Heaven, Father of the Bride 2, and The Poseidon Adventure, 06’.

Theater: The multi-talented Frances Welter is one of the founders of The Topanga Community Players, a “Summer Stock” musical theatre group based in Los Angeles. Here she directed, co-produced and played various roles in the hit Broadway musicals: Hair, Tommy; The Rock Opera, Godspell, and Jesus Christ Superstar. To always expand her performing experience, she became a member of the prestigious Actor’s Alley Theater under the direction of Jordan Charney where she performed in such plays as, Suggs, Working, and Vanities.

Training: Her acting training includes Stanislavsky’s Method Acting; using the actor as an instrument and Sandy Meisner acting techniques; playing the scene moment to moment.

These two successful acting styles are a great complement to her teaching approach of, “reaching the actor from within”, to create emotional truth and reality. Cold reading and Audition techniques are also a large part of her training as she imparts the tricks of the trade to her students.

Frances’ passion is to see her acting students gain greater self-knowledge and confidence through the acting process. Find the uniqueness that is you. Her Mantra is “Listen and I will guide you..."
